Mezzo soprano Valentina Vanini began her musical education at the Peri Musical Institute of Reggio Emilia and graduated from the Boito Conservatory of Parma. Pianist Marco Santià, born in Ravenna graduated from the Conservatory Martini in Bologna. The name RaRe is derived from Ravenna, Marco's birth place and from Reggio, Valentina's native city. Highlights of their career as a duo include performances at the Teatro Alighieri of Ravenna, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Gandolfi Hall of Parma and numerous performances broadcast from the Milan studios of Radio Classica.


Examples of their varied programming include:

• Italian Art Songs by Respighi, Tosti, Bellini, Rossini and Verdi. The program also includes popular Italian songs such as "Reginella", "Torna a Surriento" and
"Musica Proibita".
• French cabaret songs of Edith Piaf.
• Cabaret Songs" with art songs of Kurt Weill, Bolcom, Britten and Poulenc.
• Art songs in English by Bolcom, Britten, Barber, and the Beatles.
• German Liderabend, including music by Brahms, Wolf and Strauss.
• An international Art Song recital with music by Faurè, Poulenc, Turina, Obradors, Respighi and Tosti.


Valentina Vanini & Marco Santià - The RaRe Duo

Formed in 2009 under the tutelage of legendary pianos/accompanist Dalton Baldwin, the RaRe Duo has become one of Italy's foremost ensembles. Pianist Marco Santià (from Ravena, Italy) and mezzo-soprano Valentina Vanini (from Reggio, Italy) have developed a unique and extraordinary broad repertoire ranging from the French cabaret songs of Edith Piaf through English standards by Britten and German Lieder by Shubert, and including Italian repertoire, Baroque to Modern.
